# About IT Lad

I work in IT. I run a homelab. I buy more gear than I probably should.

This site is where I write about what I use day to day — Docker containers, firewall configs, network switches, AI models running locally, mechanical keyboards. When something works, I say so. When it doesn't, I say that too.

Gear recommendations on this site include Amazon affiliate links. If you buy through those links, I get a small cut at no extra cost to you. I only link to things I own or have tested.

Topics I cover:

- **Homelab** — Proxmox, TrueNAS, Docker, self-hosted services
- **Networking** — pfSense, OPNsense, VLANs, managed switches
- **Cybersecurity** — firewalls, VPNs, Pi-hole, hardening guides
- **Dev tools** — VSCode setups, terminal workflow, scripting
- **AI** — Ollama, local LLMs, automation that saves real time

Questions or suggestions: reach out via the contact details in the footer.
